Housing Choice Voucher Program (Section 8) in the United States

The Housing Choice Voucher Program, commonly known as Section 8, is HUD's primary federal rental assistance program. It helps very low-income families, the elderly, veterans, and people with disabilities afford housing in the private market by paying a subsidy directly to the landlord, with around 2,000 local Public Housing Agencies administering the program.
