Supplemental Security Income in the United States

Supplemental Security Income, administered by the Social Security Administration, provides monthly cash payments to adults and children with disabilities or blindness, and to adults age 65 or older, who have very limited income and resources. SSI is funded by general tax revenues, not Social Security taxes.
